The green sea turtle is one of seven species of sea turtles worldwide. The green gets its name from the greenish color of its flesh and fat. The green sea turtle is an endangered species and like all sea turtles are threatened by the habits of man. The eggs and flesh of sea turtles are eaten. Sea turtles die after eating trash such as plastic bags and drowning in fishing nets. Sea turtle populations have drastically declined in the last 50 years.
