The Tennessee Aquarium and IMAX 3D Theater are open every day. Visitors may enter the Aquarium anytime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET with extended summer hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 8 p.m. through September 5, 2005.

Extended summer hours:

Now - Sept. 2
Mondays-Thursdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Fridays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturdays 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sundays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sept. 3 - Labor Day, Sept. 5
Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday - Monday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Schedule your Aquarium visit early or as late in the day as possible - especially on weekends. You may enter the building all the way up to closing time.
  • Your Aquarium experience, which will take at least two hours, will include both buildings: River Journey and Ocean Journey. Your tickets are good all day, so feel free to catch a bite or sneak a peek at an IMAX 3D film between buildings.
  • Cool down at the IMAX 3D Theater and enjoy a movie before you visit the Aquarium. You can purchase a combo Aquarium/IMAX ticket at a discount. IMAX films are typically 45 minutes long.
  • Purchasing tickets in advance enables you to choose the entry time you desire. Your tickets are good all day.
  • Catch a guided behind the scenes tour each day at 3 p.m. Behind the scenes tour tickets may be purchased with an Aquarium admission ticket.
  • Take CARTA's free, electric shuttle and explore other downtown attractions, eateries and shopping.
  • For more help in planning your trip to the Aquarium and Chattanooga, check out our Getaway Planner for packages and other helpful tips.
