Dark-eyed Junco
Junco hyemails
ON EXHIBIT: Cove Forest at River Journey

FUN FACTS
They rarely build a nest in shrubs or trees, but rather create a cup-shaped depression on the ground with a slight overhang of grasses. They often prefer to hop on the ground when foraging, rather than walk.
CONSERVATION
Populations are fine - no real threats. This bird does well in the winter and the snow.
