FUN FACTS

Considered an excellent game fish when taken on light tackle. The male sweeps out a nest in sand or fine gravel in colonies. Females lay 20,000 to 60,000 eggs, occasionally up to 150,000. The male guards the nest and defends the young until they start to feed. 


CONSERVATION
Black crappie are not listed as threatened or vulnerable by IUCN
