NEW! PENGUINS' ROCK BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR:
The Tennessee Aquarium is offering a limited number of trips behind the scenes at Penguins’ Rock. An Aquarium aviculturist will begin each 30 minute experience by leading visitors to a private observation deck. While viewing the birds from above, guests will be able to quiz the expert about caring for these charismatic animals and individual penguin personalities. Next, visitors will get up close and personal when the keeper door opens. Usually Nipper, a gentoo, is the first through the door. Always looking for a fish to steal, he’s a crowd favorite, hamming it up for excited guests. But it could be Flower, Pepper or Shamrock greeting guests and posing for cameras.

11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays from January 16th through February 27th. Each session is limited to six people, ages 5 and up. Cost is $15.00 per person in addition to Aquarium admission which is free for members. For the animals’ safety, visitors will not be able to touch the birds. Behind-the-scenes tickets can be purchased at the Aquarium ticketing center or in advance.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to fix meals for 12,000 animals every day? Have you ever thought about what it takes to clean fish “bowls” containing 1.1 million gallons of water? Discover for yourself! Dive into the inner workings of a world-class Aquarium on a fascinating guided journey that takes you behind the scenes, below the surface and beyond the edge. Explore a hidden maze of pipes and pumps; discover how to make seawater from scratch; see (and smell) what’s on the menu for Aquarium creatures; and even feed some of our fish as you go behind the scenes of the Tennessee Aquarium.

Daily tours at 3 p.m. EST
Last ticket sold at 2:30 p.m.  Minimum 2 and maximum 15 people. Children must be at least 10 years old AND accompanied by an adult.

Behind-the-scenes tour tickets may be added to your Aquarium admission ticket. Behind-the-scenes tickets are not available with out the purchase of Aquarium admission tickets. Price is $15 per person. Member tickets may be purchased for $12 per person. Groups of 10 or more are $13 per person. Tour participants meet at the Members Entrance of River Journey at 2:30 p.m. and the tour begins at 3 p.m. Please be aware that space is limited for behind-the-scenes tours.
