Fasten your seat belt and get ready to fulfill your “need for speed.” In addition to our suggested itineraries, check out our calendar of events to find other activities taking place during your visit.

1. OFF TO THE RACES!

Morning:

• Start your engines with a morning behind the diver’s seat. Go for the checkered flag on the go-cart track at Sir Gooney’s fun center. The fun center has a variety of tracks: Thunder Dome, a family track and a kiddie track. Losers buy lunch.

Afternoon:
• Take a short drive (and obey posted speed limits) into downtown Chattanooga. Visit the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater and put yourself in the driver's seat. Experience the heart-pounding thrill of stock cars racing at speeds of up to 200 mph. NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience provides an insider's perspective of the nation's number-one spectator sport. Viewers are thrust into the thrilling spectacle that is NASCAR today and get rare behind-the-scenes glimpses and gripping footage of the unpredictable action on the track. Have lunch at one of the downtown eateries. Big River has a kid-friendly menu, while CheeBurger CheeBurger serves kids’ meals in trays shaped like classic cars.

Evening:
• It’s a short drive from Chattanooga to Cleveland where you can part in America’s favorite spectator sport at the Cleveland Motor Speedway. The Cleveland Speedway is a 1/3-mile clay-banked dirt track oval car racing facility. The speedway has been around for more than twenty-five (25) years and since it's conception has grown into one of the South’s premiere dirt track racing facility.

2. FOR CAR FANATICS

Morning:
• Start your day at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater and put yourself in the driver's seat. Have lunch at one of the downtown restaurants.

Afternoon:
• Head down Broad Street from the IMAX Theater to learn more about the “behind-the-scenes” workhorses in the racing world - the tow trucks. Walk among early towing and recovery history in the International Towing & Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum. Enjoy restored antique wreckers and equipment, industry related displays of collectible toys, tools, unique equipment, and pictorial histories of manufacturers who pioneered a worldwide industry. Chattanooga, Tennessee was chosen as the museum's home because the industry’s first wrecker was fabricated in Chattanooga.

Evening:
• After dinner, apply what you learned by putting yourself in the driver’s seat. Check out the go-cart racing action at Sir Goony’s fun center. Go for the checkered flag and try out the center’s variety of tracks: Thunder Dome, a family track and a kiddie track.
