Job Shadowing

Are you curious about the day to day care of Aquarium animals or the freshwater species we're helping to restore in the southeast? Are you interested in pursuing a career in animal care or freshwater conservation?

We have two special opportunities for students to gain hands-on insight into these exciting and challenging fields!

Tennessee Aquarium Job Shadow Program

The Tennessee Aquarium is proud to offer a unique opportunity for students interested in animal care!  The Job Shadowing Program will allow students a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the daily responsibilities of our aquarists and forestry staff.  Students will follow our animal husbandry staff for 3 hours, with the ability to ask questions and find out what steps are necessary to pursue a career working with animals in an aquarium setting.  There is limited availability, so submit your application today!

NEW! Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute Job Shadow Program

The goal of the Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute’s job shadow program is to mentor the next generation of freshwater conservation scientists by providing opportunities for high school and college students to develop new job skills, explore conservation career opportunities, and receive college and career advising. Our hope is to create a mutually beneficial relationship between the Conservation Institute and shadows.
Aquaculture shadows will work with a Reintroduction Biologist on tasks related to the propagation of native fish, including Lake Sturgeon and Brook Trout.
