Seasonal Docent Volunteer

Being a Tennessee Aquarium docent is a great way to spend the summer!

Seasonal docents are needed during the extremely crowded summer season to be stationed throughout the Aquarium galleries and share information about the habitats, animals and plants.  As a seasonal docent, you will have the opportunity to choose from morning or afternoon shifts on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  The morning shift is 9:30 am – 2 pm and the afternoon shift is 1:30 pm – 6:00 pm.

Seasonal docent volunteers should:
•    Be at least 18 years old
•    Be enthusiastic and cheerful
•    Have good oral communication skills
•    Have the ability and desire to proactively interact with guests
•    Have an interest in working with the public, animals, plants, habitats or the environment
•    Be available to work one 4½ hour shift every week throughout the summer
Basic Duties:
•    Answer visitor questions as they tour the Aquarium
•    Interpret exhibits and the habitats they represent and point out interesting plants and animals
•    Sharing an environmental message to the public that stresses the relationship between all living things and the importance of stewardship
•    Extend hospitality to our guests visiting the Tennessee Aquarium

•    Attend one day training session in May 

•    Commit to volunteer at least one 4 ½ hour shift a week throughout the summer
•    Select a morning or afternoon shift from 9:30 AM-2:00 PM or 1:30 PM-6:00 PM 
•    Available shifts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
