BigPicture: Natural World Photography

October 2018 - February 2019

Nature photographers travel to the ends of the Earth, to places we might never visit, enduring punishing conditions in order to capture a single moment or particular animal behavior. Their images help us understand and appreciate the world around us.

Starting October 1, Tennessee Aquarium guests will have the opportunity to explore BigPicture: Natural World Photography, an exhibition of more than 40 stunning wildlife and nature photos. These images represent the top entries in the 2018 BigPicture photography competition held annually at the California Academy of Sciences.

The imagery celebrates and illustrates the rich, and often fragile, diversity of life on our planet. This inspiring collection transports you to where life is wild, beauty is bizarre and animals inspire us to be a little more human.

“The photographs in this extraordinary collection do more than capture moments in time….they tell stories, arouse sympathy, provoke joy, and make you gasp with wonder.” – Dr. Sylvia Earle, Oceanographer, Explorer, and Conservationist
