This year, Giving Tuesday falls on December 1 (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving). This global celebration of generosity follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a way for us to reach out and support our community during the holiday season. Here are a few ways you can help out this weekend through Tuesday, December 1st.
1. Visit the Aquarium Now – December 1
While visiting our ticketing center, or when making a purchase at our gift shops, our staff will ask if you’d like to donate $1 (or more) to the Aquarium’s freshwater conservation and environmental education projects.
Once you make a donation, you can add your drop of support to our donation wall in celebration of the Aquarium’s regional impact. And, your drop will serve to challenge others to join you in supporting freshwater conservation and research.
2. Donate & Share
Not able to visit before Giving Tuesday? Consider making a contribution online. Our secure donation portal makes it safe and simple to help our scientists in the field and our educators in the classroom. Share with your friends and family using #givingtuesday and help spread the joy of giving.
Tip: This year, #GivingTuesday has grown into a unified, city-wide movement. The goal of chagives.org is to foster and celebrate generosity throughout our local community on December 1. To add your UNselfie to the conversation use #CHAgives.
3. Shop for Good
Doing your holiday shopping online? Shop through smile.amazon.com and a portion of your purchase will be donated when you select the Tennessee Aquarium as your charity of choice.
While you’re there, find our Amazon wish list filled with fun items for some of our animals. The list is even organized by creature so you can choose a tasty treat for the otters, a new toy for an octopus and more!
