The Tennessee Aquarium and IMAX 3D Theater will remain temporarily closed until further notice.
The Tennessee Aquarium closed to the public temporarily on March 13, 2020 when the first case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) was confirmed in Chattanooga. As a nonprofit organization, this was a difficult decision. But, we chose to take this action voluntarily – prior to any state or local shelter in place orders – to slow the spread of this disease in our community and to safeguard our guests, staff and volunteers.
In an effort to determine when we will be able to reopen, we will continue to:
- follow the science-based guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and all state and local health officials
- abide by all state and local health guidelines
- closely monitor the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in our region
We will reopen as soon as we can. However, at the present time it appears unlikely that we will be able to reopen during the month of May.

We thank you for your patience as we navigate this closure. General Admission Aquarium and IMAX tickets are flex tickets that are good one year from the date of purchase. This includes both online tickets and tickets purchased at the Ticketing Center. This gives you flexibility with your visit, and we encourage you to regularly check this page for updates on when we can reopen.
Aquarium events during this timeframe have been cancelled or postponed. If you are a ticket holder for an Aquarium Member Event, please check your email for details on rescheduling/refund options.
