Giving a gift membership to the Tennessee Aquarium means giving your loved ones a full year to experience wonder and adventure! Each gift membership purchased between November 18th and December 18th, 2019 will arrive with a free colorful plush chameleon while supplies last.
Choose from three gift membership options: Individual Plus Membership, Family Membership and Deluxe Membership. Each of these memberships can be customized with an add-a-guest option. Q. What is the Membership gift certificate with plush program?
A. For the 2019 holiday season, each gift certificate purchase made online or in person beginning November 18th to December 18th will receive one free tie-dyed, pastel-colored plush chameleon (while supplies last). If purchased online, the gift certificate and plush will be mailed to the giver or directly to the recipient. If purchased in person, the gift certificate and plush will be handed to the purchaser. Gift certificates with plush may be purchased in person at the Riverplace ticket center from November 18th to December 24th (while supplies last).
Q. What is the Tennessee Aquarium Membership gift certificate?
A. The Tennessee Aquarium Membership gift certificate covers the full amount of the Individual-Plus, Family, or Deluxe membership based on the price paid. Guest passes can also be added at time of purchase or by the recipient at the time of redemption for $50 each guest pass. The front of the certificate indicates the redeemable membership type and reads, “Gift Membership.”
Q. How is the gift certificate redeemed?
A. The membership begins when the recipient brings the gift certificate to the Member’s Reception area towards the back of the River Journey Aquarium or to the Riverplace ticket center for redemption. At that time, the recipient will designate members, take photos, and provide mailing address, email address, and phone number in order to begin the membership. Child passes and guest passes must be used with a designated member present. Designated members are non-transferable. The membership is valid at the end of the month one full year from day of redemption. Member passes for the year will be printed at the time of redemption after providing account information.
Q. What benefits are included with a Tennessee Aquarium membership?

Q. Where do you ship gift certificates?
A. Gift certificates may be shipped to valid street addresses or post office boxes within the 50 United States. We do not ship gift certificates outside of the United States.
Q. When will my gift certificate and plush be shipped?
A. Gift certificates with plush will be shipped via USPS 3 to 4 business days after receiving the online purchase. Tracking information will not be available through the Tennessee Aquarium or USPS.
Q. How is the gift certificate and plush packaged for shipment?
A. Gift certificates are attached to a Tennessee Aquarium Membership card with redemption instructions listed on the back. This card with attached certificate is placed in a To/From envelope. Then placed inside of a yellow envelope. The chameleon plush will be wrapped in tissue paper with yellow envelope placed on top and sealed within a poly envelope mailer.
Q. What if I need to include an additional plush with my order?
A. After completing your online purchase, please call the Membership Department at 423-267-3474, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30 pm, to purchase any additional plush needed for $10 each. Credit card payment will need to be taken over the phone. Additional plush are available for purchase over the phone until December 18th or while supplies last. Additional plush may also be purchased in person at the Member’s Reception area or the Riverplace ticket center until December 24th or while supplies last.
Q. What is the gift certificate with plush return policy?
A. The Tennessee Aquarium Membership gift certificate and plush (including $10 for each additional plush) are not returnable and cannot be redeemed or exchanged for cash, check, or credit. Memberships are considered donations to the Tennessee Aquarium. The value of the Membership gift certificates does not expire at any time before redemption.
Q. How can I replace a lost or stolen membership gift certificate?
A. We can reprint a Membership gift certificate that has not been redeemed at the Member’s Reception area at no charge. You will need to know the name of the giver and their address at time of purchase in order for the cashier to locate the Membership gift certificate within our system.
Q. Can I apply the cost of my general admission tickets towards a Membership gift certificate?
A. Yes. Tickets are applied on a one-for-one basis. For example, if you originally purchased 4 tickets and want to purchase an Individual-Plus gift certificate, then you may redeem 2 tickets towards the purchase price. You have up to 60 days to redeem your tickets towards a gift certificate. Just bring the original receipt or tickets to Member’s Reception or the Riverplace ticket center. Q. Is my Membership gift certificate payment tax-deductible?
A. Operating as a nonprofit organization, the Tennessee Aquarium is committed to being a prudent steward of the support entrusted to us by our community. Memberships may be considered 100% tax deductible to the extent allowed under Internal Revenue Service guidelines. You should consult your tax preparer with specific tax questions.
