How much are tickets and how can I get them?
General admission tickets to the Aquarium are $34.95 for adults and $21.95 for kids 3-12. Kids under three are FREE! You can purchase tickets online or inside the Aquarium ticketing center (located on the Aquarium plaza) or at the IMAX Theater box office.

What is included with my Aquarium ticket?
General admission tickets to the Tennessee Aquarium allow access to both the River Journey and Ocean Journey buildings and all exhibits, animal programs and touch experiences on the main tour path. Check our Extraordinary Experiences schedule to learn more about our daily animal programs which are free with Aquarium admission. 

Does my Aquarium ticket include the IMAX Theater?
IMAX films are not included with general admission Aquarium tickets but can be added on at a discounted rate of $8 per person. (IMAX only tickets are $11.95 for adults and $9.95 for kids ages 3-12.)

Do you offer any regular discounts on Aquarium tickets?
A special rate is available to all active military and veterans (with military ID/DD214 card) at $29.95 for ages 13 and up and $18.95 for kids ages 3-12. College students (with school ID) can visit for $27.95. These discounts are only available at Aquarium ticketing center. 

What are your hours? Are you closed on holidays?
First admittance to the Aquarium is at 10:00 am EST with last admittance at 6:00 pm EST. The gift shops close at 6:30 pm and the Aquarium closes at 7:30 pm. Occasionally one building will close earlier due to an evening event, and our admissions team will let you know which building to visit first. The Aquarium and IMAX Theater are open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The Aquarium ticketing center opens at 9:30 am EST daily.

How long should I plan to be at the Aquarium?
Plan to enjoy at least two hours during your Aquarium visit.

Can I leave the Aquarium and return to finish my visit?
Once scanned for entry, Aquarium tickets allow visitors to leave and return as needed for that day. Just be sure to hold on to your tickets.

When can I visit to avoid crowds?
With two Aquarium buildings and a linear visitor path, most people find our experience a welcome reprieve from crowds.  However, the Aquarium is busiest when kids are out of school - summer, holidays and weekends. To avoid visiting with school groups, particularly April until mid-May, plan to visit later in the afternoon.

How can I learn about what’s happening at the Aquarium on the day I plan to visit?
Download the Tennessee Aquarium app for information on any special seasonal activities (like Spring Break or holiday fun) and a list of our daily animal programs. The Today at the Aquarium feature on our website calendar is also handy for learning about special events happening while you’re here – but please note that some events listed might be an extra charge outside of regular Aquarium admission. Follow us on Facebook or Twitter for up to the minute updates.

What animals can I see?
Check the Our Animals section of our website to learn more about some of the animals you’ll meet at the Aquarium. While our living forests and other galleries are open throughout year, some exhibits might require extra maintenance. In the rare case that an area temporarily closes, a notice is posted both on the Aquarium homepage and on Facebook.

Where are the restrooms located?
In the River Journey building, take the lower elevator from the main lobby down to the A-level and turn right. An additional restroom is located on Level 3 in Discovery Hall.
In the Ocean Journey building, you’ll find a restroom just to the right after your ticket is scanned and a second one on the 4th floor on the left just before the Butterfly Garden entrance. 

Is there Wi-Fi at the Aquarium?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available in both Aquarium buildings and IMAX 3D Theater.

Is food allowed/available for purchase?
The Tennessee Aquarium operates a refreshment center near the River Journey Gift Shop entrance.  Beverages with a screw cap that are purchased here (including our reusable bottles) can be carried into the Tennessee Aquarium. Additionally, the Aquarium has free water refill stations throughout.  Coolers and outside food cannot be brought into the Aquarium buildings.  Food and beverages may also be purchased at the IMAX 3D Theater Concession Stand and carried into the IMAX Theater.

Is there a nursing area?
Nursing mothers are welcome to nurse wherever they feel most comfortable. A private nursing room is available to the left of the escalator on the A-level of the River Journey building. 

Do you allow/rent strollers? 
Strollers are permitted. We do not have any strollers available for rent.

Is the Aquarium handicap accessible? Are wheelchairs available?
All exhibit galleries are fully accessible. Wheelchairs are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis for $7. A driver’s license is required to hold until the unit is returned. Wheelchair rentals are located at the Guest Services Information Desk at the River Journey exit.

Do you have lockers/coat check?
There are no guest lockers or coat check areas available at the Aquarium.

Can I take pictures/video when I visit the Aquarium?
Yes. However, please be mindful of signage on exhibits where flash photography is prohibited. We encourage our guests to share their favorite pictures on the Tennessee Aquarium Facebook page and on Instagram with #TennesseeAquarium. Who owns the Aquarium? Where does your funding come from?
The Tennessee Aquarium is a private not-for-profit organization. Our annual funding comes from admission and membership fees, gift shop sales, business sponsorships, grants and individual donations. Visit the About Us section of our website to learn more about our community impact

I would like to purchase extra copies of/I have a question about the photos taken of me at the entrance to River Journey. Who should I contact?
